Historic Whitehall Estate In Peru, Indiana. Childhood Estate of Cole Porter’s Mother
We would love for you to join with us on our adventure of restoring the historic Whitehall estate into its former glory as a French country style estate. We will be updating our progress on this website. If you have any tips, ideas or suggestions, we would greatly appreciate it. As we consider this home part of Miami county is history. We would love to hear what you have to say.
One of the big things we did in the threel seasons room was make it an outdoor movie screen room while going with a more formal garden and courtyard. It may not suit everyone but we love it.
Every day, meet yourself where you are. My stories and design tips might not be for you, but you can adapt them to your own projects or share your Wonderful ideas with us! Like I said, we are NOT designers and our specialty is healthcare, so PLEASE share your ideas, tips and suggestions with us and we will always listen. Thanks for everything and we love you guys!
Cole Albert Porter (June 9, 1891 – October 15, 1964) was an American composer and songwriter. Many of his songs became standards noted for their witty, urbane lyrics, and many of his scores found success on Broadway and in film.
Born to a wealthy family in Indiana, Porter defied his grandfather's wishes for him to practice law and took up music as a profession. Classically trained, he was drawn to musical theatre. After a slow start, he began to achieve success in the 1920s, and by the 1930s he was one of the major songwriters for the Broadway musical stage. Unlike many successful Broadway composers, Porter wrote the lyrics as well as the music for his songs.
After a serious horseback riding accident in 1937, Porter was left disabled and in constant pain, but he continued to work. His shows of the early 1940s did not contain the lasting hits of his best work of the 1920s and 1930s, but in 1948 he made a triumphant comeback with his most successful musical, Kiss Me, Kate. It won the first Tony Award for Best Musical.
Porter's other musicals include Fifty Million Frenchmen, DuBarry Was a Lady, Anything Goes, Can-Can and Silk Stockings. His numerous hit songs include "Night and Day", "Begin the Beguine", "I Get a Kick Out of You", "Well, Did You Evah!", "I've Got You Under My Skin", "My Heart Belongs to Daddy" and "You're the Top". He also composed scores for films from the 1930s to the 1950s, including Born to Dance(1936), which featured the song "You'd Be So Easy to Love"; Rosalie (1937), which featured "In the Still of the Night"; High Society (1956), which included "True Love"; and Les Girls(1957).
Porter was born in Peru, Indiana, the only surviving child of the wealthiest family in Indiana.
While I admit I am new to running for political office, I already have a job that I have loved in healthcare as a Registered Respiratory Therapist for the past 17 years, and nothing brings me greater joy than helping others, improving lives, and serving the community. As a former hospital clinical director for 8 years over many different clinical departments (ranging from cardiology to neurology to pulmonary, rehab, and many other clinical departments at the same time), I have met and cared for many local residents and learned to multi-task, delegate efficiently when needed, create cost savings, improve efficiency, add service lines, work and volunteer with the public, and manage tens of millions of dollars annually, with every year ending in surpluses due to being fiscally conservative, increasing productivity, eliminating waste, and working with others to find the best and most beneficial solutions. I did all this while improving patient satisfaction scores and health outcomes and also ranking in the top 95% nationally among all USA hospital systems with my staff as their leader through Press Ganey Surveys. I love helping others and leading others towards positive change by working with employees and residents together on proposed solutions.
Economic growth, public safety, restoring and preserving our heritage, public health and ensuring stable growth for our population while leaving nobody behind. Discussing issues that actually matter with my constituents and working to improve their lives by being their elected representative and their voice in office and at board meetings is something I am really looking forward to doing, and I am extremely passionate about making their lives easier, safer, and happier with an improved quality of life for District 2. I love a challenge, and I love finding solutions to difficult problems and implementing the actions needed while using common sense to achieve our goals as a county. I am fiscally conservative and socially moderate.
I am great with managing multi-million dollar budgets, creating new revenue streams and launching successful initiatives, I am great at implementing cost saving measures and eliminating waste while being transparent, and have a decade of leadership in high ranking Healthcare Leadership job positions. I always believe in speaking the truth, even when sometimes it hurts, and my willingness to work with anybody and treat others with respect while being a great listener and looking at stressful situations as opportunities to succeed.
Extrnsive financial management and proven success with businesses, leadership experience with the ability to listen to others and be open to new ideas, healthcare experience beyond reading pre-printed handouts (aka actual medical bedside experience in hospitals), community service and involvement and success in business and in making common sense decisions in stressful situations.
If you are not transparent then you are not being open and honest to your constituents. Transparency is paramount to democracy and EVERY government official should be held accountable for their actions, votes and be willing to listen to every citizen and their wants, concerns and plans. Citizens should be encouraged to attend board meetings and contact their County Commissioners when they need to. Citizens deserve honest answers and not political word salad meant to do everything but answer the questions asked. We are the voice of our constituents and should always remember we serve our citizens first and always.
